I’ll have to go back a few decades to tell the story of how Rustic Roast Kitchen came to be. My parents – Vince and Sue – started our former family business, V&S Catering in 1989. Throughout my childhood my parents built the business across different sectors to include a fleet of mobile units, catering at major events all over the country and then into crew catering for numerous productions on location. I left school in 2001 and decided to join the family business full time alongside training at Birmingham College of Food.  We then ventured into corporate catering at an office complex in Solihull as the in-house caterer for over four hundred people taking care of all hospitality on site, from silver service meals to the office canteen and high profile events.

In 2004 we opened a coffee shop in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. We built a loyal, regular customer base while still providing corporate catering services to local businesses. From there we became a selected caterer for The University of Birmingham.

While planning my own wedding in 2011, I kept running into the same issue. I wanted a formal sit-down meal but with a relaxed menu. A blend of formal and informal with real, rustic food. But all the formal meal providers were high-end, fine-dining – with the price tag to match!

We got married abroad in 2013 and it was the best day. It also turned out to be the inspiration to the next chapter of my work life.

All systems go!

After our wedding, I had a clear vision to divert the family business to the wedding industry. Our long history in catering gave us the confidence to create Rustic Roast Kitchen with menus and branding directed solely for weddings.  We were taken by surprise by our swift success. We had hit the right note. It was all systems go and Rustic Roast Kitchen catered for our first wedding in 2014. We became very busy, very quickly.

From the start we believed we were filling a niche, and it has proved to be true. My experience as a bride plays a key role in catering at weddings. I really do appreciate what is involved in the planning process, the cost, and how much it means to every couple.  We have now catered for hundreds of Weddings across Worcestershire, Warwickshire and the West Midlands.

We created a catering service which offers a relaxed vibe. We’ll bring a dash of formality to your informal event. You can sit and relax while we serve our delicious, local, real food. Today we still cater predominantly for weddings, but still have some of our original corporate clients and also cater for special occasions.

Our food is high-quality, delicious and hearty. It may be a cliché to say that the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach, but it proved true to us. delicious food is such an important part of your wedding. So we work hard to provide the very best dining experience for you, as bride and groom – and for all your guests.

We bring our experience, passion and care to every wedding and event we cater for. And it’s this passion that makes us who we are. weddings can be stressful, but shouldn’t be. It’s your day. Everyone on our team is there to help your wedding run smoothly. Outsource the stress to us.
